Lily's personality. I tell you. I want to document a few cute things she is doing so I don't ever forget them.
My parents are moving to a house just 7 houses down from us. Lily's been hearing us talk about that, and the fact that Grandma and Papa will be our neighbors. As Grandma and Papa leave our house last night, she calls out to them "Bye Neighbors!!"
BHop and I both put Lily to bed. We all snuggle up in her chair and "rock a minute" (as she says) and then I hold her and sway a bit before putting her in the crib, About half of that sway time is spent with Brian and her telling each other "sleep tight" "sweet dreams" and "I love you" - which Lily says as "I yuv ewe" (most adorable thing ever)
After Brian leaves the room she still calls out "I yuv you!" to him and we can hear Daddy yell back "I love you!" and her grin is so precious, so innocent, so...just...pure happiness that I want to bottle it up and keep it and never ever ever let anything ever take that away from her.
I love that about my two year old!

Sunshine
So, every night, Brian, Lily, and I all snuggle up in the chair in Lily's room and "rock a minute". It's a tight squeeze with Lily on Brian's right knee, me on his left knee, my legs resting up on our Lily's dresser...but we manage to get comfy and settled pretty quickly. We tell stories or sing songs or just recap our days.
Last night, I sang "You are my sunshine". At the end, Lily said quietly "That's a nice song". I asked if she wanted to hear it again and she said yes.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshineAll of the sudden, that pretty face of hers crumbled and I saw she was holding back tears. What's wrong?! I ask.
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
"They're gonna take my sunshine awaaaay!"
Brian and I both hurry to reassure Lily. No, they won't. The sunshine always comes back! Your sunshine will always be there!
"My sunshine taken away. My sunshine'll be GONE!"
So I started singing "Where is Thumbkin" and at the end of that song, she looked up at our faces and said "I happy now!" Crisis averted. :)
This morning when Lily woke up, she wanted to look out her window right away. I opened up her curtains to welcome in the bright morning, and she snuggled against me and whispered "Nice sunshiney day"
